Removing Enamel Paint

Print
An idea on how to remove old enamel paint from items.

1

To remove old enamel paint from items, you can soak them in acetone. You can get acetone inexpensively in large containers in the automotive section. Acetone is a strong solvent, however, so make sure the base material of the item will not be damaged by it. Metal, wood, and glass are all safe to use in acetone. For other materials, test a scrap piece first! Make sure you have good ventilation anywhere you're using acetone, and keep it out of the reach of kids and pets. ~ Submitted by A. Stevens

I would caution on using acetone on the plastic models you sell as it would completely disolve your model to where there would be nothing left if you put it in solution. Even wiping plastic models with acetone will melt and destroy the plastic. You have some nice scale models for sale here and I sure wouldn't want to see someone do this to their prized piece! ~Robert
